Moticar ("Moticar", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Moticar mobile application, website, motiBuddie OBD2 device, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, preferred currency and language.
- Vehicle information: make, model, year, engine type, transmission, fuel type, body style, colour, registration plate number, VIN, chassis number, engine number, and mileage.
- Vehicle documents: photographs of your vehicle, vehicle licence images, MOT certificates, insurance documents, and other compliance documents you choose to upload.
- Expense records: details of vehicle-related expenditures including amounts, dates, categories, payment methods, technician details, receipt images, and notes.
- Auto technician information: names, phone numbers, locations, and skill sets of mechanics and other service providers you save within the Service.
- Reminders and schedules: maintenance schedules, planned trips, and reminder preferences you configure.
- Communications: messages, feedback, and support enquiries you send to us.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, app version, and mobile network information.
- Usage data: features accessed, screens viewed, actions taken, timestamps, and session duration.
- Log data: IP address, browser type, referring URLs, and crash reports.
1.3 Information Collected via the motiBuddie OBD2 Device
If you use the motiBuddie device, we may collect the following data directly from your vehicle's on-board computer:

1.4 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third-party authentication providers (such as Apple or Google) when you use social login, and from partners who provide vehicle data, fuel pricing data, or other services integrated with Moticar.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To provide and operate the Service, including expense tracking, document management, maintenance reminders, diagnostics, trip tracking, and vehicle valuation.
- To create and manage your account and verify your identity.
- To process payments and manage your Membership.
- To deliver AI-powered vehicle advice and personalised insights based on your vehicle data and expense history.
- To provide vehicle security features including theft alerts, vibration detection, overspeed notifications, and GPS tracking (motiBuddie users only).
- To generate vehicle health scores, driving behaviour analysis, and maintenance predictions.
- To send you notifications, reminders, and alerts related to your vehicle, documents, and maintenance schedules.
- To provide estimated vehicle valuations based on collected data.
- To improve, develop, and optimise the Service through analytics and research.
- To generate anonymised and aggregated statistical data for benchmarking, market research, and partnerships.
- To communicate with you about Service updates, promotional offers, and new features (with your consent where required).
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security issues, and technical problems.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

If you use multi-vehicle or shared access features (such as diaspora remote monitoring or fleet management), certain vehicle data and expense information will be visible to other authorised users you designate.

We may disclose your information where required by law, regulation, court order, or other governmental authority, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

5. Data Storage and Security
5.1 Storage
Your information is stored on secure servers provided by reputable cloud hosting services. Data may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence. Where data is transferred internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
5.2 Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, regular security assessments, and secure development practices. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5.3 Offline Functionality
The Application is designed to function offline. Data created or captured offline is stored locally on your device and synchronised with our servers when connectivity is available. You are responsible for the physical security of your device.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law, necessary for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes), or required to enforce our agreements. Anonymised and aggregated data that does not identify you may be retained indefinitely.
